Joanie has many fine qualities. Above all, she is a professional whether dealing with students, parents, teachers or other administrators. I’ve seen her walk into an assembly of rambunctious teens, quiet them, but most importantly, get their respect. She truly loved those students. You could tell by the smile on her face and how she interacted with them. Under her principalship, she even had cookouts before football games, which had never been done before! She was right there with all those teenagers because she would never ask her staff to do anything she herself would not do.

"Due to Dr. Walker's fortitude, our high school has become, and continues to be nationally ranked by Newsweek Magazine and  U.S. News and World Report. Over the past seven years, the number of students taking AP courses has increased 479%. Likewise, there has been a 314% increase in students receiving college credit for their AP performance.  As a parent, I can state that my children entered higher education well-seasoned and prepared. Her door is always open and her communication is concise, compassionate, understanding, and heartfelt."

"I can unreservedly state that Dr. Walker possesses goals, standards and leadership qualities which have caused our high school to move from above average to excellent in many ways.  Dr. Walker excels in uniting the student body, parents, teachers, staff members and the surrounding business community into a cohesive working partnership.  She sets clear and measurable goals which serves to empower other leaders in the building to reach our fullest potential.  She is also meticulous when it comes to analyzing data about student performance and continually finds ways to improve student achievement.  Dr. Walker's development of a holistic approach to education, one not driven solely by statistical achievement, demonstrates a level of commitment to her students that I believe is uncommon in education today."

"Outside the classroom, Dr. Walker is committed to ensuring the success of all her students by being readily available to give advice, counsel, and using her connections in the educational world to help her students find prosperity. She shows support in every way possible, and I believe that to be a rare trait in today’s world. Her students trust her and know that she will always have their best interests at heart- which I can attest to,  and to which I know other students that she has had would attest to as well."

"Having had the pleasure of attending Dr. Walker’s classes as a guest speaker, I was able to  observe her warmth with students and her fervor for her content areas. She was always well  organized, knowledgeable, and challenging in the classroom. I found she was successfully able to  utilize her many years as an administrator to combine those experiences with the content of her syllabus. "

"Dr. Joanie Walker is a huge reason why I will be starting a doctoral program this upcoming fall and the inspiration for me to strive to be the best educational administrator I can be humbly. She protects her experiences, her knowledge, and most importantly  her passion for education in a humble and approachable way. She is by far the best professor I have ever had.  She is an outstanding communicator who shares her life experiences even the "tough stuff," that highlights her authenticity."
